Position: Cost Accounting Manager
Responsibilities:
As the Cost Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the company’s financial analysis and maintaining their competitive edge. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Cost Analysis: Conducting financial analysis on various factors that may impact pricing, including inventory evaluation, direct material, direct/indirect labor costs, and operating variances. You will analyze the actual cost of sales to aid in decision-making.
- Cost Estimation: Preparing comprehensive cost estimates for each product line, calculating budgets for production and sales, and leading the costing of Bills of Materials (BOM), capital, and tooling.
- Identification of Costs: Identifying and analyzing costs related to wages, sales bonuses, materials, and inventory costing.
- Standard Costing and Variance Analysis: Providing reports on standard costing, variance analysis, overhead allowances, and developing ROI strategies and opportunities.
- Cost Analysis Tools Development: Developing and leading the use of cost analysis tools for labor costs, efficiency, tracking systems, and overhead cost reductions. You will also focus on improving and upgrading current systems or processes to adapt to fast-paced markets and various costing applications for all products.
- Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and sales departments to meet critical deadlines and foster cooperation. Your communication and presentation skills will be essential in interacting with personnel from the shop floor to the general manager.
Requirements:
- University degree in Finance/Business, with some coursework in CGA or CMA preferred.
- Cost Accounting Experience: Solid depth in cost accounting applications in manufacturing processes, inventory costing, and experience with indirect costs, analysis, and reporting systems (minimum of 8-10 years).
- Experience in high-volume multi-line products will be considered an asset.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong logical approach to problem-solving and ability to present effective solutions to the management team.
- ERP Knowledge: Familiarity with ERP systems will be an asset.
