Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Production Manager. This role is based near London, and reports to the Plant Manager role.

Principal Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day activities of a busy manufacturing and compounding facility to ensure products are manufactured to a high level of productivity and quality, and according to budget.
Address product performance and quality issues and formulate corrective actions to rectify variances as they occur. Evaluate hold crates and bring them to conformity when applicable.
Analysis operation data daily that summarize production efficiency, scrap rates, regrind usage, downtime, and change over times by machine and by shift.
Present operational data to Supervisors and Managers daily to explain results, goals and implement methods for ongoing continuous improvement to achieve high efficiency, high regrind use, low scrap generation with minimal downtime
Floor presence should be a minimum of 10% of your time per day. Routine floor walks throughout the day to review products, floor conditions, ensure manpower is utilized safety and efficiently and engage with employees
Oversee 5S program in the production facility and yard that pertains to production including products, by products and production supplies
Manage inventory for production supplies
Responsible for implementation and compliance of Health & Safety Employee Meetings for extrusion, compound and support departments.
Leading Supervisors and employees to ensure consistent development and performance

Professionalism – Maintain distance in working relationships, use maturity and confidentiality when dealing with delicate issues
Experience/Knowledge – Knowledge of industry, company, specific work area. Knowledge of OHSA, Lean, 6 Sigma, 5S
Organization – Administrative skills; create, follow and enforce rules, policies, schedules and systems
Personality/Attitude – Easily get along with others, display eagerness and team work, ability to give and receive constructive criticism. Provide direction and support to Team Leaders and Associates. Coordinate manpower planning, time off approvals. Assist in the planning and implementation of continuous improvement of procedures. Identify training needs, provide training, implement training, and document this training (utilize “Team Support”, MOS Review, formal training through Human Resources). Observe and assist in the evaluation of employee performance to ensure compliance with standards. Facilitate daily start up meetings to discuss safety, quality, production etc. Provide ongoing feedback and coaching. Hold all direct reports accountable for any quality, production and safety concerns.
Administer discipline when necessary. Accurately complete and maintain all relevant and appropriate documents. Ensure associates complete accurate control cards, and company inspection standards, fork lift checks, etc.

Minimum Education / Training Required

This position will require 2 years of related experience as Plant Group Leader, computer efficiency skills in all required areas and a minimum Grade 12 and 1 year post-secondary education or equivalent certificate. All new employees must complete the Company New Employee Orientation. Other requirements include but are not limited to the Manufacturing Leadership Program, OHS Awareness Training relevant to job competencies and working knowledge of all employment regulations requirements. All job related policies, procedures and practices must be complied and enforced. Additional requirements include Technical Standards16949, 5S Awareness, First Aid Certified and WHMIS/Lockout.
